Paul Jones - Sigma/Labrinth

Paul Jones is an official endorser of Sakae Drums in the U.K.

With a blistering groove and a backbeat that could kill, Paul is a firm favourite for many, so it’s no surprise that he now MDs and plays for UK Drum and Bass legends, Sigma, whose more recent commercial success is turning them into a household name both in the UK and internationally. Paul’s work with Sigma follows three action-packed years in the hot seat for internationally renowned UK artist Labrinth.

Paul’s early career saw a series of stadium gigs with Cleopatra, supporting the Spice Girls on their last-ever tour, taking in crowds of 38,000 at Wembley Stadium. In 1999, he was soon playing for Mikey Graham from Boyzone, scoring gigs at Midem (Cannes) and radio showcases country-wide. Then came stints with Kitachi, Noel McKoy, Spacek , Don Blackman, Rodney P, Imagination (Leee John), Boney M, Alison Limerick, Rahsaan Patterson and Mica Paris.

Paul’s deep pocket, sense of dynamics and versatility keep people knocking at his door. Paul’s personal taste is incredibly diverse, with strong influences coming from the late 80s rave/house scene, plus early hip hop, 70s funk, R&B/soul, rock, jazz fusion and jungle/drum and bass.

Paul has performed all over the world including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Vancouver and Victoria Jazz Festivals, The Eden Sessions, Ibiza Rocks, T4 On The Beach, Radio 1’s Weekenders and finally Norway’s VG Lista. More recently, Paul’s Sigma duties have taken him to Australia’s Future Music festivals, completed two UK tours, and also played at last year’s Glastonbury, T in the Park, V Festival, Pukkelpop, Sziget, Snowbombing, The Brit Awards and Radio 1’s Live Lounge.
