Mark Whitlam - Andy Sheppard/Clare Teal

Mark Whitlam is an official endorser of Sakae Drums in the U.K.

Mark has performed live and/or recorded with some of the U.K.’s finest jazz musicians, including ECM artists Andy Sheppard and Iain Ballamy, Clare Teal, Jim Mullen (Average White Band), Jason Rebello (Sting, Jeff Beck), Tina May, John Critchinson, Gareth Williams, Josh Arcoleo, James Gardiner-Bateman (Paloma Faith), Jake McMurchie (Get The Blessing) and has shared the stage with drummers such as Nasheet Waits and Ian Thomas.

Aside from being an active jazz musician, his extensive experience in theatre led to an invitation to deputise on the world tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical ‘Evita’. Recorded work has featured on Jamie Cullum’s BBC Radio 2 show, BBC Radio 3 programmes Jazz on 3, Late Junction and Jazz Requests and BBC 6 Music.

Mark has toured in the U.K. and Europe at major jazz festivals and from the muddy fields of Glastonbury Festival to the glitz of The Royal Albert Hall. A dedicated educator, Mark is was appointed Deputy Head of the drum faculty at BIMM Bristol, one of the U.K.’s elite contemporary music colleges, where he teaches on the undergraduate programme.
