Phil Gould - Level 42/M

Phil is an official endorser of Sakae in the UK.

Phil Gould was born in Hong Kong, raised in the UK on the Isle of Wight where he began his drumming career aged 15. Phil studied classical percussion in London at the Guildhall School of Music, and later at the Royal Academy. Whilst at the Royal Academy, Phil took part in sessions for the studio band 'M', where he met synthesizer genius Wally Badarou, and which spawned the international hit 'Pop Muzik'. The following year, together with Wally, fellow student keyboardist Mike Lindup, and fellow Isle of Wight musician's bassist Mark King and guitarist brother Boon Gould, he formed Level 42, a band that achieved success internationally having several major hits, including 'Something About You' and 'Lessons in Love'. Their biggest selling albums were 'World Machine' and 'Running in the Family'.

"I feel very privileged and proud to become part of the Sakae family at this exciting time in the company's already illustrious history. These great drums represent everything I've been looking for to make the step forward in both my playing and in my sound." - Phil Gould

Phil is now an independent writer and producer, as well as a player. In 2009, Phil released his first solo album, entitled 'Watertight', recorded in collaboration with Mike Lindup, Wally Badarou, Berenice Scott, Fabio Balestrieri, Miles Bould, Yolanda Charles and many other artists. A new album and other collaborations are to be released in the coming months.
