Percussion specialists Soar Valley Music are pleased to introduce the latest range of Brazilian Samba drums into the U.K. – the ‘Light’ series from the manufacturers of the renowned Contemporânea brand of drums.

Popular with music classrooms and community Samba bands alike, Contemporânea Samba drums have a reputation for quality and sturdiness; essential for being played and paraded through the streets at carnival time.
The new ‘Light’ drums have the added bonus of lightweight construction, yet retain a professional quality of build, making them ideal for primary school children, as well as perfect for Samba bands on a budget looking to extend or replace their inventories.

The ‘Light’ range succeeds the ‘Ginga’ range from Contemporânea and is placed in the same price bracket, ensuring that U.K schools and bands can continue to buy Samba gear at a sensible price.

Contemporânea authentic Samba drums are made in Brazil and are distributed in the U.K. by Soar Valley Music Ltd.

Jim Macaulay, drummer for New Wave legends The Stranglers, is the latest high-profile artist to join the Dream Cymbals artist roster in the U.K.

Dream Cymbals has extended its family of U.K. artists with the addition of Jim Macaulay who plays for Punk/New Wave heroes The Stranglers.
Formerly of Birmingham Rock band Envy & Other Sins with session appearances under his belt for I Blame Coco and Emmy The Great, Macaulay joins Louise Bartle of Bloc Party and Dominic Greensmith from Reef as part of the ever-growing list of notable champions of Dream cymbals.

The Stranglers recently celebrated their 40th anniversary and will be touring extensively around the world in 2017.
The band stormed the singles charts to reach #2 in 1982 with ‘Golden Brown’, matching that position with albums ‘No More Heroes’ and ‘Black And White’, all of which achieved Gold status.

Jim's artist profile is here.

Latest drummer to join the Dream Cymbals U.K. artist roster - Andy Head.

Andy Head is an official endorser of Dream Cymbals in the U.K.

He currently plays in Saint Agnes, having joined them permanently in September 2015 after filling in for a tour in July of the same year.

Andy has been playing drums for 15 years. He has performed live since his first band had enough songs for a set, and he got the bug straight away. Andy has toured the U.K. countless times and a variety of countries in Europe at various different levels. This includes DIY tours filling in for numerous bands to playing festivals around the U.K. and Europe with the Dubstep DJ Broken Note. Andy’s most recent outing was a 7-date U.K. tour with Saint Agnes.

Back in 2010, Andy established his own rehearsal/recording studio with a few friends. He also uses the studio for teaching and to date has recorded 7 LPs and many singles and EPs.

To date, Saint Agnes has released two singles on 7" vinyl accompanied with two sell-out shows at London's Hoxton Bar & Kitchen and most recently Hackney Oslo. The band is currently writing and recording its debut album early in 2017, with an autumn release in mind. Saint Agnes has European touring lined up for April/May 2017.

Today and tomorrow, Soar Valley Music will be exhibiting at the annual Music & Drama Education Expo at the Olympia Centre in London. Major features are the Dream Cymbals range of Gongs, Cymbals and Orchestral Clashes, as well as J. Leiva Cajons and Kambala African Djembes. The Contemporanea Samba Primary packs with nesting Surdos will also be shown, along with a new addition to the SVM catalogue, the 12" Mkula metal tongue drum.

Another addition to the U.K. Dream roster - Gareth Hunt from Welsh band Buffalo Summer.

Gareth first picked up a pair of drumsticks at the age of 10. After teaching himself by playing along to records in the house, he started playing in bands locally. By the age of 14, Gareth was playing his first gigs and hasn't looked back since.
He has toured the U.K. and Europe extensively including appearances at festivals such as Download, Hyde Park BST and Wacken Open Air.
His band Buffalo Summer have just finished recording their third album which was produced by Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Mad Season) and is due to be released later in 2017.

Buffalo Summer sound like you hope and dream; big, Bluesy, southern-tinged rock with riffs and melodies that refuse to leave your body or brain. Hailing from South Wales, they walk with giants in both action and attitude, evoking the days when classic rock such as Led Zeppelin, Free and Whitesnake strode stages like lions, yet with infusions of contemporary legends such as The Black Crowes, Alice In Chains and even a little dash of Jack White.

Gareth plays cymbals from the Dream Energy range.

Dream Cymbals in the U.K. have added Neil Ogden to their list of artists.

Neil Ogden has a busy schedule in the Rock and Metal world. As well as touring, writing and recording with Rock Metal legends Demon (including performing at the 'Bang Your Head' and 'Sweden Rock' festivals), Neil finds time to be part of Lawless and Dirty White Boyz, on top of session work for rockers FM, Change Of Heart, Steve Overland and Persian Risk.

Neil starting playing drums at the age of 14 and then began touring at 16 around U.K. pubs and clubs, getting lots of recognition on the Midlands Rock scene.
He later joined the band USI featuring Steve Johnson (Phil Lynott) and Paul Johnson (Saxon), leading to sessions for Radio 1's Tommy Vance. The band were signed to Chrysalis Records.

Neil's Dream cymbals are taken mostly from the 'Energy' series.

Soar Valley Music would like to wecome Tom Connolly to the U.K. Dream Cymbals roster.

He has been featured on radio interviews, recorded with pop, metal, indie, rap and electronic artists and has had music featured on several broadcast stations, such as BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Bristol. “I love the minimalistic look and style of Dream cymbals. The Dark Matter range really stands out to me and is incredibly unique.”
- Tom Connolly.

The year 2016 has been somewhat of an historic year for Dream Cymbals endorsers The Cory Band as the band are quadruple Brass champions; something that has never been done in 150 or so years of Brass banding. This comprises being European Champions, which they won in Lille, France in May, British Open Champions of Great Britain in September, National Champions of Great Britain in October, and in the last few weeks, 'Brass in Concert' Champions.
It's not easy to explain the significance of all these awards but to put it into context they will end the year as No.1 Brass band in the world for an unprecedented 10th year in a row!

Not only has the Cory Band been successful on the traditional contest stage, they have carried the Dream brand across the world. In February, they embarked on a week's tour of the USA and they have also travelled across Europe and performed in Sweden, Germany, Ireland and France, along with the length and breadth of the United Kingdom. Not to mention their recording and radio broadcast schedule, which consist of countless amounts of exposure on the airwaves, including Classic FM in recent weeks.
